It's almost here, any time now the little bundle is going to burst into your world changing it forever.
In my last month of pregnancy I was so haywired running around like a chicken with her head cut-off. I was super nervous, excited, confused all rolled into one. I had no idea what I needed to do or get ready. I did have my relatives helping out with the "bank in sleep' 'pack your hospital bag' 'exercise for a normal delivery', thanks to those well wishers. Looking back at it all, I truly wish someone told me some of these things too. Ladies, this is precious gold out here, devor every word and follow it to the T.
1. Get a good manicure & pedicure & haircut
It feels great to look good. Not to forget you will be featured in a zillion photos with your new baby in a few days time. You don't want to look like a hankered chicken(not that you will mind very much, with your little precious in your arms) But it does feel a wee bit greater when you look nicer. And let's face it girl, it will be a while for you to start looking near civilised after the baby is out.
2. DATE DATE DATE
Don't let tiredness or just plain & simple laziness get the better of your time. Drag hubby dearest and just go out to the movies, for a nice dinner or just for a beach walk date. Better yet, indulge in all the different kinds of possible dates. The litlle Mr/Miss precious will soon come and hog both of your times in unimaginable doses.
3. Upgrade your phone storage
You cannot imagine how many pictures you will take and will want to possibly take. Don't let that video of your baby's first coo get cut off because you felt guilty to delete the 75 pictures of your baby's first stroller walk. Check out good backup storage options.
4. Research a good baby photographer
Babies are just so cute, you cannot get enough of them. The bad news is that they grow out that babiness in a wink. Get a professional to get that babiness imprinted for eternity. I say, do your research now, coz researching while being a sleep-deprived zombie will come up with not-so good results and also an avoidable hole in the pocket.
5. Make playlists for every mood
After the baby, you will be spending a looot of time rooted to your couch breastfeeding. Make the process pleasurable by always having a song handy. A song can up any mood, songs are the answer, we are Indian after all.
6. Get book bargains
While at it, upgrade your library. I'm such a bookie, I love books, if you are like me, breastfeedung is such an excuse to just sit around and read all day. Go out and get those books. For the more tech savy ones there is always kindle. Don't love books? Netflix to the rescue, fill up the queue with your fav movies and sitcoms.
7. Sign up for Amazon prime
My husband swears by this. Ordering and getting baby stuff delivered at your doorstep in two days is such a blessing in this modern world. Do not underestimate how much one tiny being will need and consume. There will be never-ending lists.
8. Get a foot rub
It is just so ah- mazing and relaxing. Nobody can deny someone who cannot reach her toes. Make use of the circumstances and indulge.
9. SLEEP
Go to bed at 8 pm and wake up at 1 pm just so you can.
